Dell Design Day
I spoke at the Dell Design Day last year around end of November in Bangalore, India. Dell Design Day is a one-day design workshop with motivated talks and inspirational stories. This event was organized by the Dell Designers Community with an objective to bring all the designers from Dell Technologies and partners to a connected platform. Audience consisted of UX designers, developers, product managers and some leaders from different teams across Dell India.
3 Topics I Shared That Can Immediately Put Into Practice:
1 - Dell Brand Updates
Since there was some changes on the Dell Branding, I spoke about the new brand direction with one shared visual language for Dell Technologies, Dell EMC and Dell. This simplification of Dell brand’s vision will make it easier for teams and won’t have to flip assets from one identity to another.
2 - Mobile UX Processes
The longest part of my talk was about the Mobile UX processes. I’ve used my recent work about Spaces Internal Navigation mobile app as an example. I’ve discussed step-by-step processes from discovery phase to testing to handing-off assets to Development team.
3 - Dell Mobile App Design Essentials
Many Dell teams are not familiar about standards in designing for Dell mobile app. Dell Mobile team aims to have look and feel and experience consistency in any mobile apps that going out to App Stores.
Outcome
More designers in India were looking for more Mobile Apps case studies. They wanted to see more examples to learn quickly about the UX processes. Product Managers and Developers are more educated on the stages of UX design, rather than going directly to visual design on their respective projects.
